As the first Shelby Cobra to be fitted with the monstrous 427 engine, CSX 2196 was raced in the 12 hours of Sebring by Ken Miles and John Morton. Afterwards, it went through an extensive lightening effort and a 390 was installed. It was felt that this became the best handling and most powerful Cobra built.
